Lowrance H2O user question

Well guys,
I did get the Lowrance H2O for Christmas and have already used it for deer hunting yesterday. Nice unit, very useful.

When I got in my truck with it early yesterday morning I somehow managed to bring up an speedometer in an analog type display. I lost it shortly after and have not been able to figure out how to retrieve it again since then.

I like the analog style display and figure it would be much easier to read when I check my boat's speed. Does anyone know how to find that screen?

The manual, extensive as it is doesn't have any information on that particular screen display so it wasn't any help.:(

PS, I decided on MapCreate 6 for my detail mapping program and it seems sufficient for everything but inshore fishing along the Outer Banks of NC. For that I will probably go with the Navionics software mapping.

PAGES then go over to Status and you can make a custom gauge page

OR

on the main map page you can MENU ,overlay data and work in the submenu there

The best thing is to downoad the simulator and play with it on your computer

There is so much stuff hidden in the submenu of each item it realy takes time to get to know it

Push the page button until it comes up.

Nah, tried that. That just runs me through the normal 4 pages.

If you push pages 2 times from the regular GPS map page you will get a screen that shows speed and all kinds of other information. Speed , Distance, Bearing, Track, off Cource Closing Speed Altitude and Travel time

Tommays? I dont see Menu (OVERLAY DATA) on my H20. Is this on the advanced menu 1 or 2 or on the easy mode menu?

Yeah, I get that page no problem. The screen I was looking for looks just like an analog speedometer that reads from 0 to 120 mph if I recall it correctly. I don't have to have it, just want to know how to find it again since it's far easier to see with just the one mode on display. It's kind of a neat feature to be so hard to find a second time.;)

I found it walking to my truck in the dark pushing buttons, so how hard could it be to find it again?? :lol

Re: Lowrance H2O user question

I have not seen that Analog Speedometer either on the emulator.
I do have a question for you since you have a new Lowrance unit and likely will be running it while you get it setup the way you want it.

On the Lowrance unit do they use the same Satellite numbers as Garmin. Like Alatinic Ocean Region West (AOR-W) Garmin number 35. By the way they moved this WAAS Bird form the Alatinic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. It was at 54 Degrees West over the Atlantic but now it at 142 Degrees West over the Pacific.

My question do you see it as #35 on the lowrance unit or #122? I guess I should ask if Your in the USA where you can see this Geostationary (AOR-W) WAAS Bird. I think Lowrance uses the same number but not really sure.

I should read thru the Lowrance manual and see how they show the satellites they see. The simulator does not show that kind of detail.

One more question for you. Have you had a chance to check elevation against road signs or know elevations. My Garmin unit is usually with in 100 feet. Must see 4 sattelites before it will report elevation.

Reason I am asking so many Questions is I think I may Buy the H2O C at boat show in January.

Any likes and dislikes many of us on here would like to here about. Does the battery last 10 hours as reported? Probably depends on how long the light is on.

Enjoy your new unit.

Tried that today per your advice but it's a no-go. Must be something else, some other sequence of events.:'(

Re: Lowrance H2O user question

I doubt you will get 10 hours of battery life on a H20C. Maybe with lithium batteries. I have read many posts on other fishing forums about the drain they have on batteries. I have the H20 and have gotten over 10 hours on regular alkaline batteries. Problem with the C is that you need the backlight on almost all the time and it sucks the battery. I cant speak for the C but the H20 is awsome. I ice fish and have the Navonics chip and it is like fishing with a depth finder in the winter. No need to go drill holes to find points and breaks or dropoffs. Have had EPE of around 30 feet when I have WAAS 3D. Never came any where near that close with my old Magellin.

I recently downgraded my H2O-C to the B&W model. The color one is just too hard to see in bright sun. Even the lady at Lowrance agreed with me.

Actually you need to press Exit three times quickly from the map screen rather than two. Same with a lot of the other Lowrance units. I think it's one of those little bonus goody's the code writers put in every now and then and don't show in the manuals, kind of like the music tunes that were in some of the old Lowrance units.

Thanks fishonjohn!

These are the best boating forums. I always get the right answers and great help.:):)

I may post this as a tip in a separate post for other users of the Lowrance H20 hand held GPS.

That speedometer is pretty cool. What I like about it is the odometer. When you reset the mileage on your GPS it does not reset the odometer on the speedometer. Kinda like getting a bluebook price on the H2O. Mine has 2600 miles on it. A guy from work who got his for christmas has 2.4 miles on his.
