Lowrance autopilot

I have a 1991 Thompson fisherman 21 with cable stern drive. Just purchased the lowrance hds live which is autopilot ready. However the manual for lowrance autopilot says kicker or outboard motor connectivity and nothing about stern drives. Will the lowrance autopilot work on stern drives with cable steering? Thanks

Generally speaking, cable steer auto pilots are not up to the task. Especially if your using it in low speed operation like trolling
