hi; i was looking to put one of these on my new to me boat.
it looks like it would be a big help in threading the needle to best crusing speed and fuel costs.
any coments on install and use will be welcome
also if i read the add right you can use one gauge and switch functions if you add differnt sending units?

That's correct. But there a number of caviats here. First, make sure the fuel flow transducer is included with the unit. That can make the price increase by about $75 if it's not. Also be aware that this unit will not calculate miles per gallon unless the boat has a paddle wheel speed sensor feeding the NEMA network. So the best it will do by itself is: gallons/hour, fuel remaining, total for trip, etc. which is great. My walleye boat has a Navman/Northstar fuel flow meter and they work great for determining optimum cruise. Any measurements requiring speed, depth, etc requires a network and applicable sensors.

I think you posted the wrong part number as the stand alone would be a LMF-200 or 400

And a network unit for the GPS would be a EP-10 or now EP-60

BUT i have used the EP-10 In my GPS for a full season and found it to work well

i could have the wrong number. the add showed some differnt configureations for this unit and i was trying to pick the one that came with the fuel flow sending unit.
i missled you with the gps coment. i have a hand held gps and would take the speed from it and the flow rate from the gauge then calculate mile per gal. but with readings from both it should be easy to find the most economical operating speed ( did i just say easy? nothing is ever easy)

The most economical operating point is normally at about 2/3 throttle and that will be about 2/3 of what the WOT flow rate is. Even airplane pilots use flow rate and not MPG for calculating range. MPG is an average and you don't know what you have until you've traveled a given distance. Flow rate is instantaneous, is updated every 15 seconds and you can see that immediately. You will quickly learn that once it's installed.
