Lower unit swap

I have a 2005 bigfoot 25, and found a 2004 50HP short shaft for sale. I'd like the larger motor, and wonder if the lower units are interchangeable on these by chance.

Any ideas? I know the bigfoot uses a larger lower unit.

Otherwise how easy is it to buy a lower unit alone for a 50? and how much would one expect to pay?

Wont interchange as driveshaft splines and diameter are different... and you need to find out if the 50 was a bigfoot as crankshaft is different between tha small gearhousing and bigfoot.

Thanks - I had assumed it would not work. Guess I'll have to look for a lower unit instead.
