Hello, just purchased 1998 carolina skiff with '98 honda 4 stroke 50hp engine. There is an audible clicking noise coming from the lower unit with engine running in nuetral (heard with boat out of the water while flushing the engine). Not sure if it can be heard while in gear -- didn't notice it when driving the boat a few days ago. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. <br />Ranger3676

Re: lower unit question

It could be that you are hearing the clutch dog slightly dragging on the ramps of either foward, or reverse gear. If so the shift linkage is slightly out of adjustment.

Re: lower unit question

Thanks for the reply "Almost retired again."<br />If this turns out to be the p-roblem, can this be solved by following the instructions from the lower shift cable adjustment page? Sorry if you aren't familiar with this page -- someone posted a link to this page earlier. Thanks for your help!<br />Ranger3676
