Lower unit part help needed

I have a 1998 Yamaha 25 HP longshaft. It has 2 cylinders. My lower unit is shot and I'm looking for a used replacement. My question is, I have seen a few 1994 year lower units that look just like mine judging from the pictures. Is there a time frame when the lower units were the same say 1994- 2001 for example. Thanks for any help its really appreciated.

look up the part # for your lower unit and then compare that to other year models to see if they are the same
