I own a 19' center console boat with a 130 hp Johnson motor. The boat is moored in saltwater and is only being used once a week for approx. 4 hrs. Is it recommended to trim the lower unit out of the water when the boat is not being used ? Please explain why.

Thanks.

Re: Lower unit out/in saltwater

To try and prevent galvanic corrosion and marine growth. It is not always possible to tip your motor (drive unit) completly out of the water. If this is the case you will need to protect your gear with zinc anodes and anti fouling paint. People in the harbor where you moore should be fairly up to date on what it takes for protection. All situations are a little differnt.
