I just bought a 2000 18' Fourwinns F/S with a 150 Johnson Oceanpro outboard. I dont have the manual and cant find any info on web. I don't want to put wrong lower unit oil in. What type would it take? I use 80/90 for my 1976 88 Johnson. Was wondering if they use the same oil. Thanks

I have a 2001 Johnson 200hp OceanPro. I use 80W90 Pennzoil Marine gear lube in mine. Never had any issues. You can also use the Quick Silver 80W90 gear lube if you like purple oil and want to spend more $$. Or better yet, if you can find the OMC ultra HPF or Hi-Vis gear lube, you can go directly by the service manual and spend even more per quart. Personally, I'm not sold on the marketing...I just try to keep the water out and change it 1-2 times per season based on usage.

Any marine gear oil for mechanical gearshift motors is fine. I try to use a full synthetic type, when I can find it.

Use the best oil suggested by your dealer.----I believe these gears are a wee bit smaller than previous years and there have been failures.
