Lower Unit oil capacity for 700E Merc

The book specifies the grade of oil but does not mention any capacity. The good stuff comes in 9 oz bottles, how many will it take? TIA or Thanks in advance, if that offends the delicate sensibilties of CAtransplant.

My book shows the Merc 700 manufactured between '77 and '79 using 12.5 ounces of lower unit oil.

Thak you Ken G. I have the 1965 and older book as recommended. Which book are you using? From a dry case to full took two nine oz tubes, right to the top.:grateful:

I have the Seloc Mercury Volume II, 3 and 4 cylinder, 1965-1992.
