New boater here, I saw a boat in a guy's front yard the other day as I was driving by & noticed it had what looked like a trolling motor mounted on the lower unit. I swung back to take a closer look, I didn't want to just walk around his yard so I parked about 20/30 yards away. It looked like it was mounted with a swing down bracket so it can be out of the water when not in use. Is this a common type of trolling motor? I've never seen one of these before. Anyone have one of these? If so, how do you like it & would you recommend this type? I want to get a trolling motor, but hate the look of a t. motor mounted on the bow of a bowrider, that's what I have. Information? Thanks, MAXX

If you are a serious fisherman or even not so serious then you will quickly come to hate this setup because you are tied to the helm for steering and that's simply not a good place to fish from. If all you want the unit for is backup or a very limited amount of fishing then they are ok. As for trollers on a bow rider, most folks don't realize that quick release plates are available that allows removal of the entire motor in a matter of seconds. The only thing that remaiins is the small base plate. Paint it the same color of the boat and from 20 feet away you don't know it's there.
