I went to change my lower unit lube today. I cant get that dam bottom screw out. I put all my effort into it and cant get it loose. I drives my nuts becase thay charge 85 dollars to change it and i can do it for 15 dollars. Has anyone had this problem before. I quit becase i did not want to sprip the screw. thanks for all the help

Re: Lower Unit lube screw

try tapping it with a screw driver or maybe try turning the screwdriver with a pair of pliers. If you tear it up the screws are pretty cheap. Good Luck!!

You may need to buy a screwdriver that has a good grip and has a good wide thin end. I have a screwdriver I use just for that

What I do to get it out, is tap on the on the screw driver with hammer to loosen.

If you think you are going to strip it you should probably do what J Kopec says and use an impact driver
