Hey guys,
So I have a 2010 Yamaha VMAX SHO and I decided to replace the prop shaft in my lower unit. My Issue is I replaced the prop shaft but dont know how to make the shift arm stay engaged with the slide pin thats under the clutch dog. Do I have to pull the shift arm out to drop it in place or is there a way to do it without messing with the shift lever? If so I'll have to figure out a way to get that bearing plate off the top of the shift lever. Those plastic tabs just broke off on it so it's in there pretty good. Any feedback would be great. The repair manual doesnt show how to engage it all. It just states how to how to disassemble and reassemble each section of the motor but never ties it all together.

I believe if you read the manual it states that you remove the shift shaft assembly prior to removing the propshaft. If you forced the propshaft out without removing the shift shaft than you must have already done some damage.

My gut says, take it to the dealer, and start working overtime.

Was there a problem with the prop shaft ,before you tore it apart ?
