I have an 2.3 OMC Cobra Outdrive and I got a new lower unit to put on it. I thought I put it back together correctly, but when I took it to the lake I had a few problems.
1. There was no reverse, it would make a grinding noise but it would not go into reverse.
2. After running the boat for a little while, it started to overheat and then when I got it out of the water I noticed that there was water in the gear oil.
I have not taken the lower unit back off yet, but here is what i think.
First, I think that i probably did not hhok the water line back up correctly and then that caused the overheating and also caused water to get into the gear oil.
And for the slipping of reverse I am sure I did not install the lower unit on correctly.
Any suggestions?
