I am having trouble realigning the water line and the shaft while installing the lower unit after replacing the water pump on my Mercury 150 outboard. I can easily install the shaft if I leave the water line out but can't seem to install both together. Obviusly I need both. What is the trick to align them and get both installed?

quinngj<br />On my Merc 150 with the water tube guide on the water pump it will meet up with the water tube just before the shift shaft does. The bolt studs are just into their respective holes at this point. Then I take a thin hack saw blade and guide the shift shaft into alignment and push it on up.
