Lower unit fluid - grease?

Hi all,

I'm a little confused about transmisson fluid, or gear oil in the lower unit for a 15 hp 1975 Johnson. I did drain it already and it seemed to look pink. ???
Any help is greatly appreiciated.

It is supposed to have 80-90 weight outboard gear oil. Or Hi-Vis if you want to get fancy.
