Lower Unit Compatability

I have a 1993 Evinrude 200 with a thirty inch shaft. My question is: what if any are differences between a lower unit which has a 25 inch shaft and a lower unit with a 30 inch. Obviously the upper shafts and shift shafts are different in length but are the gear boxes the same? Can I use a lower unit with a 25 inch shaft for a replacement by simply installing my longer upper drive shaft and shift shaft? Thanks in advance for helpful comments!

In some applications sure. The driveshafts difference is in the length of the upper driveshaft, it is a two piece driveshaft.
