Are the bolts stainless steel on a 1989 125 force lower unit? Also, the bolts has been in saltwater for year. Any steps in soaking the bolt and heating them works the best for you.Does soaking them for weeks help any more?Don't want to strip them so,i firgure i get a six point socket with a half inch torque wrench. If and when they come out, Can i used stainless steel bolt to replace the old bolts with anti-seize or regular 8 grade Bolts?

Re: Lower unit bolts

The bolts should be stainless (at least you better hope they are). Soaking with PB Blast / WD 40 can't hurt. Heating should be last resort and very carefully and sparingly. (someone else may chime in on using heat, I didn't have to)

A good socket, easy does it. Go slow, don't kill them. Should come on out.

Replace with stainless steel and a little anti-sieze.

Good luck!

Also i notice under the lower unit i have some small holes that a plastic straw from a WD-40 can will fit.I suppose they are drain holes? Or maybe for shoot spray up to the bolts?
