lower unit 1995 johnson 90/ carb

pulled my lower unit and noticed a lot of play in the shaft , up/down side/side , well im calling it a lot , is that normal when the lower unit is off the powerhead ? I lost my seal on the water pump and now im wonder if the bearing / seals should all be replace . any body have an idea on what a fare price to have this work done is ? Im told Its not a big deal with a manual and proper tolls

If it is a 2 piece driveshaft it will be loose.----Very normal.----How did you determine you " lost a seal on the waterpump " in this case.

milky oil started dripping out of the weep hole on the lower unit in my driveway , found the seal near the water pump rusted and cracked , it started to dig into my shaft a little , enough that it catches my finger nail. How would I go about finding out if I have a two piece shaft . The boat seemed to work fine the day before but I am not sure how long I was running it with the water in the lower unit
