Just pulled out for the season.Had my motor winterized.(200 johnson 2001) they tell me I should change the seals in the lower unit next season;some water seen in the oil.How difficult is it for me to do this myself.

Re: lower seals?

It's not difficult if you're an experienced mechanic. Have you ever changed seals on an outboard before? If not, you might want to think twice before you learn on a 200 - new lower units on those big motors are expensive! If you decide to do it, get a factory manual and be sure you understand what you're doing before you start.

It is a simple process to change them. It may be the drive shaft seal under the water pump housing so don't forget that one.
