Quick question, I just changed my lower gear case fluid on a 200 hp 1992 Evinrude XP outboard and found that it was a little milky. Do I need to put on new seals and gaskets? Should there be any seals on the intake/drain screws for this model outboard? If so what kind of seals should I get and where can I found them? Thanks for any assistance and input, Skip

yes u should have O rings washers on the drain and refill screws to keep the water out . "a little milky" ,well u can do a vacuum and pressure test to find out if the lower unit is leaking any where else . A manual will help....

I have the manual right now. I'll have to do some reading. Not sure if I should take the lower unit off or if I can keep it on to change out these seals. I think I may change the water pump while I'm at it. How hard is it to take a lower unit off? Thanks again, Skip

If the water pump has never been changed do it now. If you have the manual, follow the procedure for removal of the leg and replacement of the pump.

Alright, I'll give it a shot. The manual I have is for a 1994 through like 98 I believe. My buddy bought me the manual by mistake because I have a 92 Evinrude XP. Will there be many differences between the two because of the two year difference? Hopefully everything will go smoothly. I'm used to working on cars, not so much boat engines...lol
