'85 50hp 4 cyl 2 stroke serial #A131285 needs new lower crank seals. I have the bolts out of the cap but it seems really tight. What can I do to remove the cap without splitting the case? Also would heat help to remove the cap and the exhaust extension plate from the drive shaft housing?

Loosen some of the crankcase bolts near the end cap. It should then come off.

The exhaust extension may be held by a bolt. If not, it may just be stuck by the gasket. Usually a soft rap from a wooden, leather or plastic mallet will break it loose. Why do you want to take it off?

I also have to replace the motot mounts which are giving me a fit to remove. The farther I go into this thing the more problems I find.
