low unti oil?

I have a 72 rude that is a manual shift with the lever and linkage on the side of the motor. I know from reading on here that type C is for electric shift motors. In my manual it says to use a OMC type C lubricant. Am I able to use 80/90 high vis. LU oil or do I need type C for electric shifts. Thanks

80/90 fine for that motor if a mechanical shift
