Low speed needle tip stuck in carburetor

I removed the low speed needle from my 72 6HP Johnson carb. When I looked at it I thought the tip looked funny. Sure enough when I peeked in the carb where the needle sits, I saw the broken tip stuck in its seat. I don't see a clear way of removing it.

Anyone have any tips on getting it out?

Pray. Then remove the core plug from the top of the carburetor and see if you can poke it out from there. If not, as a last-ditch effort, drill a small hole through the side of the cavity, in line with the needle. Then you have a straight shot at poking it out. Needless to say you then have to plug the hole you made. JB Weld to the rescue.

Thanks for the advice F R. Are the lead cores reusable?

No, they are a one off thing, you'll need a new one, needle too I guess. Pull the plug (generally I punch through them with a sharp punch) and if you have a compressor blow through the holes with a blowgun, the tip may come out or do what F_R said. To install, convex side of the plug up and flaten the plug using a 3/8ths extension and a hammer. Seal the edges of the plug with clear nail polish.

A little confusion on my part. I am not pulling a lead shot, but rather the lead disc on the top. (#10 in the attached picture) Am I correct in that I am supposed to pull that part out?

Part #10 is the one. While you have the core plug removed, make sure all the passages are clean or gunk.
