have been setting up boat with jackplate and several props. seems like best setup is with a 26" raker, but bigger prop only has rpm's at 4900 at wot. will this hurt motor at wot only turning 4900??? it is rated to turn 5500. i've raised jackplate and rpm's will not increase. there is nothing wrong with motor because smaller props get me up close to 5500 but the speed is not there. just wondering if i will be hurting motor in the long run.

Re: low rpm's

You are overpropped, Damstriper.

Yes, it will hurt your engine.

Use the prop that allows your engine to reach 5500rpm but not exceed it.

DHadley can give you the best rigging advice for optimizing speed once you have your engine propped properly.

Good luck. :)
