I have a 1998 Four Winns, 18' with a 4.3L 190 HP OMC with Volvo Penta outdrive. Ever since I had a "new" rebuilt engine installed a month ago, it exhibits a rather loud, annoying rattle at 1,800 RPM or less. Everything seems to quiet down over 1,800 RPM. Sometimes, I can get the system relatively quiet below 1,800 RPM if I get lucky and hit just the right RPM. The guy who installed the engine says he will try to fix it, but doesn't know what is causing the noise. Otherwise the engine runs great. I don't think the noise is coming from the engine itself. <br />Any thoughts?
