I have a '95 Mercruiser 5.7L carb'd with Bravo 3, raw water cooled. I had it at the lake for 4 days last week and operating temp never got above 130. It didn't seem real strong when towing skier or tubes, but I thought that was the high altitude 5,000'.

Should this be a big concern? What would cause a boat to operate at low temp?

The thermostat could be stuck open. Most times they will fail open. It also could be missing, someone may have removed it.

Our 02 Rinker Siesta with the 350 mag and bravo 3 drive usually runs about 140 at 5000 feet. So you are not too far off.

I would not worry about it.If the stat was stuck open or it was missing, the motor would run even cooler than that.143 is normal so you are better off a little cooler than a little higher.Charlie
