Dumb question, but what is the difference between a low on oil alarm and an overheat alarm? A loud constant screaming sound is overheat correct?

Re: Low on Oil Alarm vs. Overheat Alarm

Oil alarm is a rapid beeping
Overheat is one continuous tone

Neither can be ignored without the possibility of serious motor damage.

The oil alarm is NOT just a low oil alarm, it can be a signal that there is NO OIL supply to the motor, the oil pump may have failed, the motor should be shut down immediately unless weather or boat traffic requires you to sacrifice the motor to ensure personal safety.
