low idle tap

I have a 63 evenrude 40 hp.<br />At very low idle with the cover off I can hear<br />a tapping sound. when I raise the idle it goes away. Is this something that I should be concerned with.<br />p.s.- 110psi both cilenders. and Im having a carb problem also, no power until I open the choke cover.

check to see if the tapping noise is comming from the two timming stops comming together if linkage is getting worn the flyweel magnet will cause the bump every time it pases over a coil.

where are the timing stops located and how do I check the linkage?
