I have a 1983 150 (J150STLCTE) with 1 5/16" bore carbs marked 394431-150SP-16CI. I have a low end lean problem. The motor doesnt run well at idle or coming on step. I posted earlier about putting a electric fuel pump on this engine, I did do this so I know my float bowls are full but still she just doesnt get enough fuel at idle or trying to pull power. The only way to get her going is to deppress the fuel solenoid switch.

I have cleaned the carbs and they looked good, why isnt this motor getting fuel?

Thanks,

If additional prime helps, she's not getting fuel so its either a delivery problem or a carb problem You said you cleaned them -- but to what level of detail? Were they totally disassembled, soaked, all passages cleaned and blown out with compressed air. Reassembled with new kits. An how about the mixture settings? What pressure are you running the fuel pump at?

pump is a automotive type 3-6psi constant, i removed the carbs dissasembled didnt soak but I could visually see through the all jets. These carbs are not ajustable aside from changing jets, I would think that the jets are correct. However does anybody know if these are the correct carbs?

There's no reason those carbs won't work if they're OK. Soak them in carb cleaner (not gas) and put in OE kits. Set the floats parallel to the carb body when upside down.

Be careful with a lean condition. We could be talking about pistons next.

The middle carb has the roller on it to pick up the linkage. On some it can be moved.
