Well, I have been resealing and installing a new impellar kit on my OMC stern drive 800 and I walked out into the garage this morning and the garage smelled like marine grease and oil. I gotta say, it almost smells as good as smoke on the water from a 2 stroke outboard .

Don't smell it too often. I once met a guy that got addicted to brake fluid. He said wasn't worried about it because he could stop at any time. :drum:

Shouldnt smell it in a properly sealed outdrive.

Then again, i can identify most automotive fluids by taste and how they sting in the eyes

The stuff stinks, the moment the bottle is opened. Get a drop on your hands, they will stink for days, soap/ hand cleaners don't remove it. Straight Clorox, or other chlorine bleach, poured on to the hands and rubbed together does reduce the smell

Yeah-but, it will keep you from going bald!.... In my teens I dumped a whole pan of it on my head/hair, and into my 50's, I still don't have any signs of losing hair.

(Or maybe it's genetics?.........)

I don't mind a little stink if it keeps what is left of my hair in place ..

I use to run into this guy around town that always smelled like gear oil. I asked him one day why he smelled like gear oil. He looked offended and told me it was because he worked on rear ends and if anything was wrong with that. Jokingly, I replied that I liked to work on rear ends too. He replied back "I thought so because you smell fishy".
