Love Stick Steering -But Turning Question

As the title says, I absolutely love stick steering. I like sitting in the middle of the boat, and not having to move toward the back, and quickly hop up on the platform for some fishing. The motor starts on the first turn of the key, runs like a top.

I did notice, however, that it is more difficult for me to make the boat turn portside. I know many of you havent used this setup, but what do you think it could be? I think that the steering cable is fine, it's brand new, but that maybe it needs some grease in the steering tub on the motor - the part that the cable goes through and screws into?

Is this possible? It just seems very stiff, definitely too stiff for me. Is there a way to see if it can be greased? What kind of grease would I need to use. I think if lubed up the steering rod might slide in and out of the tube better. Thoughts?

----

I posted this on another site and they said it might be a torque tab. BUt I'm not even sure I have one. Plus the motor turns fine when the cable is disconnected, and there is no issue when I am on a plane. It doesnt pull from side to side, just hard to go port side when the motor is on or when it is not.

I am using the steering on the portside, but the cable is going through the motor from the starboard side, and connecting to the steering rod on the port side, is this normal? Is it possible that I should have it not go across the motor and then into the steering hookup, and flip the steering hooking on the motor itself? Is that even possible?

Someone suggested it could be a bind in the cable - but I bought it from someone brand new. Looking for help from alias Tashasdaddy since I've searched this topic with no success yet saw he has this setup and seems to know a lot about this? Thanks a lot, hope to get this figured out, since the motor runs like a freaking top and my boat mod is nearly done!

Re: Love Stick Steering -But Turning Question

Ok, so i def dont have a torque tab, and I definitely don't have a sharp bend in my cable. I am wondering if maybe the cable isnt long enough or if the tube isnt greased well or if the cable can be inserted from the other side of the motor by flipping the threads?

A torque tab would likely help a lot.

What size boat is it? Where are you sitting in the boat when you try to turn with either steering setup? Weight distribution will cause a boat to steer funny.

It's a 16 ft Mon Ark Jon. I am sitting in the middle. The weight is perfectly distributed. I am thinking the cable may be too short?

Is it possible to flip the threads for the steering setup and the control arm? I would like to not have the cable go across the motor then back through. Basically, have the steering flipped.

You should be able to hook the cable up from either side of the motor. You should also be able to adjust the hinge tube (tube the steering cable hooks to) a little.

I am going to have to take a closer look at it. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem?

I am going to call EZ Glide, too, to see what they say.
