Loud Buzzing Sound?

On the way back to the ramp the other day my boat started to make a loud buzzing sound, it started about 200 yards from the ramp. I loaded the boat on the trailer and turned the key off the sound stopped, I then turned the key to the on position not turning the motor on just to the on position and the buzzing started again. Even now that the boat is home the buzzing will start everytime it turn the key to the on position. I am aware that, that is usually a overheating alarm, but it does not seam right that it still does it days afterward and when the motor is not running.

The Motor is Merc. 45 Jet, Impeller replaced last year, and im 99% sure water was still coming out of the cooling hole on the way in as I am always looking back and checking that.

Quicksilver controller, that is were the sound is coming from.

Any suggestions?

Thanks Glenn

Trace the wire for the overheat sensor. It may have chafed and shorted to ground.

Re: Loud Buzzing Sound?

I Checked all the wiring everything seems fine, I disconnected the 2 blue lines coming out of the oil tank this made the buzzing stop. Can I replace that switch assembly or do you have o replace the whole oil tank. Or could it be something else. Thanks
