I have a 1995 Mercury 115hp outboard motor.

On Saturday, I started my boat in my yard, using a flush kit. ( I had just used the boat earlier in the week)Then I drove about 50miles to launch the boat. Got to the ramp, dropped it in the water, turned the ignition on, and this loud buzzer sounded! The motor started right up, but the buzzer did not go off. I turned the key off, and took the Kalling(sp?) off the motor. Made sure the air breather cap on oil tand was on, made sure the water pump was working. Nothing looked out of place!

Drove back home. The load buzzer is coming from under the console. Only one other time, have I heard a noise. This same noise was intermetant(Sp?) and have not heard it since last December 04'. It would come and go once I was running the motor.... Not sure if this is related.

Thought it could be the oil sender or relay sensor going out. But I do not know how to test it?? Another words, I do not know how to check if the carbs are getting oil or not...

Any ideas?

The oil module has gone bad and it's triggering the warning horn

Do you not have an engine owners manual?

On our 150 a solid warning siren (as opposed to intermittment like ours is doing now) is a cooling failure, typically because your impeller shot craps. This warning comes from the powerhead temperature sensor.

From the shop manual:

"Self-test of the warning system is performed by
turning the ignition key to the “RUN” position. A
steady beep is indicative of an overheat condition. An intermittent beep refers to a low oil condition. Both overheat and low oil conditions are monitored by a warning module mounted on the starboard side of the engine block."

After winter storage is a typical time for that to happen.

Our neighbors just took their boat out for the first time this year. 15 minutes later they called on the cell phone for us to come tow them back--impeller--$254 for "on the lake" repair.

It is an item that should be replaced fairly regularly. We had let ours go for three years until this Spring and it did not look very good. I saved it to remind myself.

Re: Loud Buzzer under console..What is going on?

I just had a complete lower unit rebuilt. I took the boat out once after I got it back. Then I had a steering cable that got stiff on me. I cleaned the cable where it attaches to the motor and was able to get it working again.
I do not know if I pull a electrical wire, while under the console, while I was trying to grease the helm, or if there was a wire that came loose...I do not believe so.
The buzzer stays on when the ignition is turned to "START"...I got a new water propeller when I go a rebuilt lower unit.
The buzzer does not beep Intermittently or like one beep, then another beep, etc...I know that sound could be the oil pump. But instead it stays on, like the motor is overheating. I do not know about "buzzers".....
