Lots of oil coming from the breather

As I took the carb off to rebuild it I noticed that there is what I consider a lot of oil buildup coming from the oil breather tube to the spark arrester. 1997 3.0XL.

Is this normal? This is my first one inboard/outboard so I am not sure what to expect.
Engine does not seem to be low.

A coating yes is normal I get the top of my carb cover with oil, Just wipe it off. Both my old 3.0 and new 5.0 do this.

Thank you Scott. I will just start wiping it down as part of my pull out process.
