Lots of little questions about my Honda 45hp

Hello all,
I've always dealt with OMC motors so I don't know much about these Honda's. All I know is they are the best motors I have ever ran (car, generator and cement mixer). I'm not sure what the year is, but the serial number says BF45A. It is a 45hp shortshaft with power tilt. I'm not sure the term for this but it has the handle coming off the motor to control speed and steering, not with the steering wheel. My questions are; what year is this motor, is it the efi or the carb version, how do you find out the hours on it, how much is it worth (it is in good running condition), can you transfer it to the steering version and would it be worth more if it had the steering version on it with controls.
Thanks guys!

Remove cowl and check for visible carbs, if efi, injectors should be well hidden. Can be turned into a steering version depending on your boat's available deck space. Will need a console, central helm with engine steering cable, steering wheel, 1 remote box, emergency stop switch cable, 1 throttle cable, 1 gear cable and hardware to secure cables to engine. Expect more than 1 grand in parts...

It's a carbed, tiller model and the year can be determined by the serial number. Without a preexisting hour meter you cannot determine the hours on it and the value would be anywhere from $800 to $1500.00 depending on year and condition. You can convert it to a remote model for around $850.00 and it would not change the value...Unless someone needed it the other way. Regardless, it would not be cost effective to convert one that old.
