Lost tools?

I just have to post this to see if anybody else is having issues with lost tools? No, not tools that have gone bad, but tools that don't come home again. In the last month or so, I have lost at least five tools that has been with me for decades. And I can even remember using them their last time as well. But for the life of me, I can't find them anymore. Of course I searched everywhere, but I can't find them. Most were used to work on the sprinkler system and so I do remember collecting them all up after finished using them and that is the end of them now. Both the wife and I actually went through everything and every place we can think off. But they are hiding a heck of a lot better then we are looking, it seems. A nice large Channel Lock Pliers, a PVC Pipe Cutter, a Tiny Screw Driver, a little Garden Shovel, and a Standard Pliers are on the most wanted posters now. And we have almost bought replacements. And I know once I do buy their replacement, I will find them again. Just wondering if others have such problems with wayward tools? :noidea:

Heck, half the time I can't find that tool I was just using three minutes ago on my current project. I spend more time trying to relocate my tools than I do working on whatever project is underway...

Then you end up finding it within an arm length from where you were working

I always find my missing tools the moment I buy their replacement. I'm starting to think my son hides them, he gets all my extras.

Over the years I made a list of tools that I have lost, either because I loaned them out and cant for the life of me remember who has them, or I simply lost them.

the list is rather extensive and I would be elated to get half of it back. the largest being an engine hoist, the smallest, a really nice set of picks

I have a whiteboard in my garage where I list various things. Included is a list of what tools are loaned out and to who.

Yea and now they have moved back in to my house and he's stealing my food and air conditioning !
And they brought all of their dogs too !!
Kidding .... He's a good guy .. Works every day and doesn't have any real bad habits ... Other than not putting my tools back when he borrows them ...

For years growing up I was the tool locator for my dad. He can fix anything but looses 1/2 the parts and 3/4 of the tools in the process. So he trained me at an early age to keep up with what ever he was working on or with.

I've developed a special kind of OCD . This forces me to keep track of all my tools and when I do loose one it kicks my OCD in.

My dad tells me that when I was little he found his tools with the lawn mower because I always left them in the yard.

Yea that would find them. But I already cut the lawn about three or four times and haven't hit anything yet. So they probably aren't in the lawn waiting to reek havoc with the mower blades.

A house. Four tool boxes. Two garages. Four barns. Five vehicles. A boat and 30 acres which to misplace tools.

Add to the mix a "handy" spouse and two offspring. It's a miracle I can find anything.

Still looking for my good pair of electrical dikes I lost wiring a new horse barn 3 years ago

I used to be blamed for misplacing my step dads tools and not putting things back when I was done. I can still hear him saying "those dang kids". Funny thing is we all moved away and he still can't find his tools. Now he blames it on mom!!! Lol.
