we blew the head gasket on our 97 rodeo (hopefully we didnt damage the head) all I am left with is an old 85 toyota van lx. the rear bumper has what looks like a rubber face all the way across. I am sure their is some sort of steel bumper behind it, Has anyone ever drilled a hole through one of thise for a ball? Its a bear trying to locate a hitch for this vehicle.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Dave

a bumper hitch, like drilling a hole is not a good idea, because of the energy absorbing bumpers. they are made to give and break away. if you can't find one premaid, get the welder to throw one together. i hope it's not a very big boat. i've never seen one of those vans towing.

Its a 16 foot Alum. bass tracker. Thanks for the info, I will see what a welder can come up with. It woul be primarally used to take the boat to the ramp and then parked at the dry dock. occasionaly moved about 20 miles or so on flat ground.
thanks again

You will be lucky to get a welder to do this because he will be liable if anything should happen. Aswell the toyota is a 85 so the metal in the rear end maybe getting weak. being a hitch installer and welder its risky to be doing what you are asking, but it's just my opinion, happy boating.

Thanks Battery, taken under advisement. I will just wait till tow rig gets fixed and then start looking for a backup tow rig.
Thanks again
