Hi everyone,

Just got back from the lake, had an awesome time and the boat ran well. I stayed out late cleaning her up, and turned the lights on to see how pretty she looks at night. I put the earmuffs on and went to start her up, and as soon as I turned the key to the start position, I lost all electrical power to everything. No radio, no blower, no lights, nothing. I looked at the 50a breaker button, and pressed it but it doesn't appear to be tripped.

I'm so glad this didn't happen out on the water. whew! Any ideas on what it might be?

Thanks,

Please see my sig line for all the particulars. Thanks.

Re: lost all electrical power

Lake Mead I presume.:)

When you get a chance, you'll want to start off with checking fuses under the helm and back on the engine.

A test light will come in handy to see if your getting power where needed.

Check the Red wire at the back of the ignition key switch. Also for a quick easier test to start off with is I like to see if your getting 12v power up to the engine by checking for power at the back of the alternator, should be an orange wire going to it.

Let us know what you find, Good luck.:)

Re: lost all electrical power

Hi Fun Times,

Yep I love lake mead! Sandy beach is my favorite place so far, it's off of Calville bay, do you know it? Any other cool spots that you know of? I need to get a GPS!

So, this was a very simple fix. I turned out to just be the positive cable for the battery. When the last owner changed the starter, he tried (not very hard) to put a new lug on the starter side of the cable. This connection was of the worst terminations I have ever seen. Anyway, I changed the whole cable for 12 bucks from autozone and problem solved. New cables connections are water tight and professional!
