I bought a 2004 Glastron 180 SX last year and it topped out at 40mph at 4600 rpm, now I can only get to about 25mph at 4600 rpm. I replaced the prop with the same pitch (19) and it didn't help. Any ideas of what to do to get my power back??

Is the bottom of the boat clean? Have you tried trimming higher?

Re: Loss of Power

Yes, the hull is clean and I gain a few mph when I trim higher but nowhere near where it used to be. I've read some posts talking about prop slipping but seeing that I have a brand new prop I don't think that's the problem. Any other ideas?

Re: Loss of Power

Are you sure the speedometer and the tach work and are accurate? If you don't change your prop, drive, or engine and the speed of the boat slows, rpm will drop as well.
Did this speed drop happen all of a sudden, or slowly got worse over time?

The speedometer and tach are both accurate (checked it with a GPS). It feels as if the engine is revving higher but just not hitting that next gear...like driving on the highway in 3rd or 4th. The speed got worse over time this past summer.

Re: Loss of Power

the only thing I have done is replace the prop. I thought that would fix the problem because my previous prop was getting beat up a bit but it didnt help much. honestly the boat runs great, just runs much slower. Is there anything else it could be? Anything I can do to increase the speed?

Ayuh,... You are trimmin' the drive, Right,..??

26 mph, at 4600 rpms,..??

What yer describin' is pretty much impossible, unless the trailer is still hooked to it...
If the motor is turnin' the Rpms, 'n the Prop is spinnin' it's Rpms,...
The boat either Goes, or she's draggin' anchor...
