Loss of Power .....70 VRO

Would a babd power pack cause the loss of power on a 91, 70 VRO? The injection has been taken of, but the motor has intermittent problems with loss of power when under load.....it is just doggy, then soon after shutting off or poering back for a bit the power is back....????<br /><br />Thanks<br /><br />Dona from: www.sledbabes.com

It may be going into S.L.O.W. Disconnect tan wire at temp sensor on cylinder head and try. If more then 1 wire on temp sensor I need to know color.

Great Clanton, hubby and/or I will try that in just a short bit. I went and looked there is a tan wire with a thin blue stipe that goes to the head, I take it that is the one to disconnect? When it is disconnected the overheat alarm will not work.

Well we tried it, but don't think there was a big change. It is doggy up to and just past 3000 RPM"S, if we pull a tube with a 7 or 8 year old child there are times we can't get out of the hole and the engine will hang right around 3000 RPM's. We cann back off the throttle, putt around a minute or so and try it again then usually it will take right off ( sometimes a takes a couple tries) <br />????<br /><br />"Thanks again" in advance!<br /><br />Dona from: www.sledbabes.com

I've seen your other posts sledbabes, I have the same engine. Seems like you've been having quite a few probs, as have I. Have you checked your compression? I just bought mine this year, and will be having it rebuilt soon.

The VRO will for sure be disconnected after the rebuild, even if it didn't cause the scoring. Quite a website by the way. I'm from MN also. Good luck on the engine!

Anyway...We did have it checked when we bought it not long ago we do forget where they were at, one was a bit lower than the others but they were all within 10 lbs of each other. There are times it will work just fine when applying power but alot of the time now trying to get it above 3000 rpm's is tough. We take it the problem is likely not the power-pack? Could the prop be part of the problem? 13-1/4x 17.<br /><br />What general part of Mn are you from if I may ask...you don't have to answer that if you don't want to.......just general area.<br /><br />Thanks Dona from sledbabes!

I grew up on Lake Vermilion, but now live in the twin cities area. If you do find out it is the power pak, I have an extra I could give you a deal on. When my engine went down, the tech automatically replaced the powerpak, as a quick fix. Come to find out it didn't need to be replaced. I didn't feel like driving 4 hrs to get a refund. Can't hurt to have an extra I guess.

dtro, we are in the area about 160 or so miles north on 35 from you. Is there any chance it could be the pack/ is that a symptom of a bad pack?? The hubby will be following up after this post. I think he checked with a place up here on a pack a couple days ago but didn't buy one.....yet, but if you want ot sell yours.....
