losing power after few hours J110hp

I have a 1988 johnson 110hp. The motor has run great for the last year, but the last four times I have taken it out it started to lose power after a while. I idle down and it appears to run well. I pump the ball and it is tight. I replaced the bulb, gas, and gas filter(no help). I am thinking that I may have a bad stator or coil pack? Is there a way to check either with a ohm meter? The local boat supply house said that it sound like a high speed coil in the stator? Thanks in advance for any and all time spent troubleshooting?

What do the sparkplugs look like after one of these run episodes? Wet with oil? Dry?Sparkplug conditions are an excellent barometer of what's going on in the cylinders. If dry ,you have a lean fuel condition during failure at higher speeds,if excessively oil wet,you may very well have weak ignition issue.

I will check them next time out. I pre-mix my oil 50-1, would that make a difference?<br />Thanks

I'm not sure I follow your last question.Premixing will not cause any ignition/ combustion issues as long as it is mixed accurately.
