The wires going up to the flywheel (at the top of the engine) are loose. It is causing me to lose a cyl. at high r.p.m. When I push the wires up and hold them by hand the motor runs fine.As soon as I let off preasure (on the wires) the motor loses a cyl.I don't know what these wires go to, or what to remove to trace them without causing more problems. Can somebody help?

PWilson.... It would help if you stated just what your engine is, however.........<br /><br />I'm going to assume that the wire you're speaking of are either spark plug wires of smaller wires leading to a sensor or points. My bet is on the spark plug wires though.<br /><br />You have either a frayed wire which has set up a make and break scenario, or a wire that has the inner wire exposed that is grounding out. The cure would be to replace that wire.

Sorry, its an 88 Force 125.The wires in question are small and in a bundle. The colors are green, red, yellow, black, and white.

Wilson.... Force engines are not my line of expertise. However, my advice stands which was/is:<br /><br />"You have either a frayed wire which has set up a make and break scenario, or a wire that has the inner wire exposed that is grounding out. The cure would be to replace that wire."<br /><br />If you're not capable of replacing that wire, have someone do it for you. From what you've said, that's obviously the problem area.

Your wire colors don't match up with the diagrams in my manual, but I would definately get it repaired before doing any more severe damage.

Is it a 5 cylinder ?<br />If so the 5 wires sound to me like "Trigger" wires leading from trigger to switchbox? If so, split the black casing and check them all the way back for corrosion and if found, re-join and re-insulate them.
