loose steering wheel 87 bayliner capri 16

ti can not figure out why the steering wheel is loose it had about 2-3 inches of up and down movement on the mount when you go to steer the steering wheel tilts. where to bracket attached to the das is tight.

Right off hand I would think the center shaft and bushings are wore out, unless it is a tilt style wheel set up and the tilt lock is broken or not tight.

idk if its tilt theres a bolt that when you loosen it the steering wheel moves more

a tilt wheel is like a lock on your steering column .... it you had tilt....you would know it.

inder the bezel or flange of the wheel there is three bolts.....they will go thru to the under side of the dash. tighten up those bolts.... if the wheel still has play......replace the system.
