hello i have a 89 johnson 60 horse .i changed the plugs the other day and when i did the bottom one was very loose. it can out with a brownish / grayish fluid on the threads and by the washer .none any where else. i replaced the plugs and ran for a few minutes and rechecked that plug and did not find it this time. could this of been caused by the plug being loose and not sealed up right? i am worried about water in the clyinder i hope it was just cause it was loose... thanks

I would expect to see that kind of blow by on a loose plug. A loose plug would not cause a water leak. Keep checking it after a little run time until your convinced it will stay tight. Best of luck. Rick.

Post a photo of them for all to review and comment on. Keep an eye to the plugs in case they start to back off, however do not over tighten them or you may strip out the threads. If they do back off then the head threads may have some excessive wear on them.
