So I wanted to replace the fuel hoses and stuff while I was rebuilding my fuel pump because there was some cracking and one of the hoses looked to be leaking. Is there a trick to getting the hoses back on tight? They were on with zip ties before but i just cant get new zip ties on there good enough and they are also in hard to get places. Is there a trick to getting them on there tight?

Re: Loose hoses

Use a cable tie gun, or tool.

By the way, the plastic zip ties used by Mercury dealers are a bit different than your run of the mill electrical counterparts.

By the way, the plastic zip ties used by Mercury dealers are a bit different than your run of the mill electrical counterparts.

The difference is that the fuel line ties are made so that they form a perfect circle and evenly clamp the line. Electrical ties will pinch the line, and sometimes even pinch in a leak at the barb.

hope it helps
