A while back I had water a leak into the bilge and after close inspection of the bellows which were in top shape I had no idea what else to check. I brought it into the local shop and the mechanic said that of the 4 nuts on the exhaust tube , three were finger tight and the 4th he couldnt get too without removing the engine. After he snugged them up the boat (1984 starcraft islander) was watertight. I am starting to take on a bit of water again and would like to recheck the exhaust tube nuts, but I really dont know where to look or what to feel for. Is it just a simple matter of following the exhaust to where it runs through the transom? Special tools needed? Can the nuts be replaced with nylocks? Any tips appreciated! The engine is a 1984 mercruiser 130 with alpha 1 drive. Thanx...Dan
