Here is a CL BOAT listed as "needs to be cleaned up a lil and get the yearly tune up... but other then that water ready." when I stop by to take a look this is what I see:
  1. Floor completed rotten
  2. Upholstery need to be replaced including wood behind it
  3. Glass on winshield left side is missing
  4. Tramson for sure need to be replaced too.
  5. Sky Locker completed flooded
  6. Heavy polish need to be applied
without mention that I didnt see the engine start and gauges working cause the owner was not around. Hull looks good.
How much could you offer for a boat in this conditions?

Boat decal was expired on 2013 or 2014 not sure about it. Owner asking for his 2000 Glastron GX180 $3,500.00

I'd make them pay you to haul it away. It isn't worth a dime, and would cost 2x what it is worth just to fix the things that are visibly wrong with it.

I would offer $500.00 and tell them the other $3000.00 they want for it will be spent on restoring it to a safe to use boat.

I see in the add they claim to " Love this boat, and hate to sell it " Funny how some people show their love by trashing and abusing an item.

Ask them : Why is one window missing? Why is the interior in such bad shape? Why is the deck rotten?
Answer: We didn't care enough to keep our boat covered and dry, but we want you to pay top dollar for it anyway.

Actually Old Jeep is right you should be paid to haul it off.

I bet the glass will be expensive as its curved. I would guess some one opened the walk through when the boat was at speed. Beautiful boat but what a money pit that would be. I would walk, lots of nice boats out there for $3500.

I was thinking about $3,000 to restore and place and offer between $500 up to $800.00 If the engine start and gauges working fine, owner said: "give me up to next Thursday, If I didn't sell it then we will talk again.

but tnstratofoam questions are real good, can't wait 😀 To hear the answers

Well, $3000 if you are not planning on replacing the vinyl/seats or are capable of sewing your own vinyl. Interior for that boat would cost around $3-4K just to get a shop to make the skins - not even including installation. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that a boat that looks like that has not got a well maintained engine and outdrive.

Leave it behind and the gray hair that would go with it. Just for giggles I would ask those questions just to see the guy squirm...... "Loved" this boat until it fell apart""......

So, you showed up to view a boat for sale and the owner wasn't around. I'm guessing you didn't call to arrange to see the boat. Since the owner wasn't around, you started crawling around on the boat in the guys yard and started opening lockers? How did you determine the transom requires replacing?

A For Sale sign doesn't absolve you of trespassing.

I guess I assumed someone was around who gave him permission to poke around....

No one has been trespassing and or crawling around sir, and yes I talk to owner and arrange to see it.

How did I determine the transom requires replacing? - The obviously condition of the boat. If I have to replace the floor that task will take me to replace foam below and the transom too, you already there and far away why not do the job done?

Looks like it would be a nice boat after sinking 5k into it for a restore. Wouldn't offer more than $500 even that is a lot for one in that bad shape.

there are tens of thousands of boats in the Greater Tampa area for sale (from Sarasota to Brooksville, and the ICW to Orlando). I pass no less than 9 places with parking lots of used boats on my daily commute from Bradenton to Largo, most of which have not moved in 3 years. With a fist full of cash, you could do much better by pounding the pavement vs CL and Ebay.

Trailer is worth $300, offer to take the boat for free if you buy the trailer. It may be worth a bit more if the motor was truly new a few years back, however I would want receipts and to do a serial number check.

Realistically, the guy selling the boat isn't going to take $300 or $800 for it....he already feels like he's giving it away @ $3,500 for a "quick sale"

I'm interested in seeing how this will turn out

Ok Guys here are the questions we are expecting from this guy.

Why is one window missing? - Basketball goal fell on it.
Why is the interior in such bad shape? Why is the deck rotten? - I had a baby.... and let the boat go unfortunately

I finally offer $300.00 for the trailer and could get the boat for free and he said: Yerah Right, Thats Crazy... No you wouldnt Iam not selling for any less than $1500.00. I can have it on the water for less than 500.00

I said: Fix it up and then lets talk again.....

End of story

So much for a $3500 "quick sale". Dropped $2k. I've always said, "trust no one"........

I'm sure he can have it on the water for $500. But that doesn't fix all the rot and crappy interior/exterior...
