If money is no object and you want to stay with pretty much a stock machine what would you get? The 3 that are in the running for me are RXP, GP1300R, and the STX 15-F. Could someone offer some input please? Thanks in advance.

are you looking for performance or just a cruser.
the RXP is the fastest but kinda hard on gas but it is the fastest and it has the best hull for rough water. If it were me i would look hard at the Kawasaki 15F. It looks like you get the most for youy money with the 15F. I have never liked the hulls on the Yamaha and if you are going to spend that much money you should buy a four stroke. you may also want to look at the honda units. they are not the fastest but they have the typical honda quality. check out the dealer as the after the sale service means alot with a PWC.
I am planning on buying a couple of 12F units later this year or early next year. i am an old guy and do not need or want to go 60 mph.
also before you buy, make them let you try it out in the water. do not buy without trying it out.
good luck and let us know what you buy.

Mike

Hey,
Have had Yamaha's for over 10 years & love em!! All I've ever done is plugs and batteries. I love the way the run, always start and they just keep a goin. Not to bad on gas, and the hull design is sweet, very little splash. My buddy got the cow and had a melt down after the first year. Just my $.02.

Thanks guys! I have decided to go with an 05 GP1300R and an 05 FX High Output. From my experience and from talking to others you can't really beat the reliability of the Yamahas and with that combo I have speed and comfort. Thanks for your input!

I have the Honda F-12x (4 stroke turbo 165hp). this is a nice ski, very dependable (typical honda) and overall I'm really impressed.

You have made a great choice. I choose Yamaha when I first started riding in '96 based on what the brands of old skis were that I saw still in use. Yamaha was the clear winner in longevity.
The GP1300R has great potential for future mods. I would like to point out that even though it is a two seater, the weight limit is 350 lbs minus gas, oil, cargo. Something to think about if you or your friends are on the heavy side and want to ride double.
If you have any other questions, check out the forum on rivayamaha.com

Re: Looking to buy a new PWC and need some advice...

I just got a great deal on a pair of 2003 Yamaha FX 140's. We chose the Yamahas because of stability and reliability. I know several friends who have the Hondas and love them, they seem to be a very fast, fine machine overall. My big issue was when I test rode the three seater last year the footwells filled up on the Honda and it became very tippy... the Yammy hull seems very forgiving for the weekend rider like me and the family; we have already been in several situations where we were hit with big wakes and I feel like if I were on the Honda we would have rolled it for sure, but I'm a newbie so that's just me.
Still getting the feel of the FX, but they seem to be very quiet and stable. Very nice overall but they seem to use more gas than I would have imagined for a 4 stroke. Of course, that wouldn't really be an issue if it was still 1.30 a gallon!!!

I bought a 2004 Kawasaki Ultra 150 last year and will never think the same. Everything about this ski is perfect. When you first crank it up at the ramp, everybody stares b/c it sounds like your sitting on top of a vette engine. The sound is wonderful. And if speed is a issue, on a calm lake, 81 mph is attainable, and I am 200 lbs. I may be biased, and not know too much about the others, but it's worth it to consider.

81 on a ultra, no way try low 60's or so at best.
the Sea Doo RXP will only run about 68 out of the box and that is the fastest stock jet ski you can buy. do not believe the speedometer
use a radar or GPS for true speed.
