I am thinking about buying a 1994 22 caliber tc cruiser. It has the 454 w/250 hrs on it. The boat looks to be in very good shape, stored in doors at all times. What are some of the things to look for, and what are some of the draw backs to this boat compared to others like it.

Thanks for any help you can give

Nothing bad about these boats. They are well known for the quality and durability. It's much more important to check the engine and outdrive. A poorly maintained engine and outdrive can rack up thousands in reapir bills in a heartbeat. Make sure you have the driveline checked by a certified Mercruiser mechanic checking for things such as compression on all cylinders, check for water leaks or cracks in the engine that someone may have fixed improperly. You may want to post this question in the Mercruiser forum as they can readily list anything you will need to check and/or look for prior to the purchase.

Yeah nice boat just check the basics transom, floor, drivetrain.

It will be nice for some more baja owners to be on here.

We have a 1994 Baja 22 Caliber TC with a mildly massaged 350 in it.
With that power we are seeing 60 MPH GPS. They also came with a 4.3 V6...man those should be real dogs.

That boat should come with a full camper enclosure...it will be clipped on the back of the rear seat in front of engine.

Only really bad things I can think of are:
1. Boat is *** heavy....you need a prop with a lot of stern lift.
2. The hatch on every one of them binds on the starboard side as it opens....you have to raise a little, go back and lift the side, then continue opening.
3. With the engine back as far as it is it's a real PIA to work on engine.

Other than that, it's a great oat. We have had ours 8 years and would hate to get rid of it. It's small enough to easily trailer and the smallest Baja that will realistically sleep 2.
Ours has the optional sink on the dash in front of passenger seat.
Rot really wasn't an issue in that series of Baja's.
250 hours are low...
Any other q's, drop me a line..
