I am looking going in with my boss on buying a jet ski. A guy locally is selling 2 one is a 2003 Polaris which the guy says runs fine. The other is a 1999 not sure what size. It does not run the guy says that it is getting spark but just not firing. What could be the problem with it. He said that the motor had been replaced 3 years ago and he is the original owner. What would be some things to look for? We plan on going to look them over real good maybe the first of the week. They seem to be in good shape structurally. The guy is asking 3000 for them do you think that is reasonable? I was thinking offer him 2500 cash for them he has had them forsale for a while.

Thanks

Re: Looking to Buy 2 Jet Ski's

I see a lot of skis - that may or may not turn over - and the seller may say "I just needs a battery" - come to find out, the motor blown, cases cracked - and is basically junk.

I would be very leery of buying anything that will not at least start up.

Polaris ended production a few years ago (2006 or so) - not saying I wouldn't buy one (I own one now - a 2004 MSX140) - but be aware that as they age, parts may become hard to locate.

Stay away from Polaris. No longer supported. If you want a fixer upper go with Yamaha or Seadoo. And for gods sake do a compression test. One more time stay away from polaris.
